TORONTO, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Alex Rios broke things open with a three-run homer in the eighth Thursday, sending the Chicago White Sox to a 7-2 decision over Toronto.
All the scoring in the game came on home runs, with the White Six hitting five -- four of them solo shots.
After Moises Sierra put Toronto in front with a two-run blast in the second, Chicago cut its deficit in half in the third on Dewayne Wise's homer. Dayan Viciedo and Tyler Flowers contributed home runs in the fifth to put the White Sox in front for good and they struck for four more runs in the eighth to open a comfortable advantage.
Alexei Ramirez added a home run one out later.
The power display made a winner out of Francisco Liriano (4-10), who gave up two runs on three hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Aaron Laffey (3-4) surrendered three runs on three hits in six innings to take the loss.
Chicago won its third straight and moved 2 1/2 games in front of idle Detroit in the American League Central.
