Olympic Medal: W Basketball

LONDON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The United States won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in women's basketball.

It was the 41st consecutive Olympic victory and the fifth straight gold medal for the American women, who defeated France 86-50 in the title game.

Australia, which lost to the United States in the gold medal game at each of the last three Olympics, won the bronze medal with an 83-74 win over Russia.
