NFL: Houston 26, Carolina 13

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Matt Schaub appeared for the first time since a season-ending injury, gaining 52 yards for Houston Saturday in its 26-13 pre-season win over Carolina.

Schaub, who missed the Texans' final eight games in 2011 with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot, went 3-for-6 through the air with an interception.

Tyler Yates completed 8-of-12 passes for 89 yards and undrafted rookie Case Keenum went 2-for-3 for 33 yards in the win.

Jonathan Grimes' three-yard TD run in the third quarter helped ice the game for the Texans.

Cam Newton started behind center for the Panthers and completed 2-of-6 passes for 17 yards.

Running back Jonathan Stewart celebrated a new five-year contract extension with one reception for 13 yards.
