CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Ryan Ludwick's two-run double in the eighth inning vaulted Cincinnati into the lead Saturday and the Reds hung on for a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Trailing 2-1 in the eighth, the Reds got a lead-off double from Drew Stubbs against James Russell (5-1) and Brandon Phillips sent him to third with a single.

That brought up Ludwick, who shot a 2-2 pitch into the left-field corner, scoring both runners for a 3-2 Reds lead.

Later in the inning Chris Heisey doubled with two outs, stole third and scored on a Wilson Valdez single for an insurance run.

Bronson Arroyo (8-7) earned the win with eight solid innings, yielding a pair of runs on five hits while walking one and striking out four.

Aroldis Chapman fanned two during a 1-2-3 ninth for his 27th save as the National League Central-leading Reds won their second straight following five consecutive losses.

David DeJesus drove in both Cubs runs.
