Olympic Medal: W K2 500 Canoeing

DORNEY, England, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze of Germany won the Olympic gold medal Thursday in women's double kayaking over 500 meters.

The silver went to Katalin Kovacs and Natasa Janics-Douchev of Hungary. Kovacs was part of Hungary's gold medal winning effort on Wednesday in the kayaking fours.

Poland's Karolina Naja and Beata Mikolajczyk took the bronze.
