LONDON, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Anna Meares of Australia won the Olympic gold medal Tuesday in women's spring cycling.

Meares defeated Victoria Pendleton of Britain in the finals, denying Pendleton a second gold medal in these Games.

The bronze medal went to Guo Shuang of China.
