LONDON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Andy Murray of Britain won the Olympic gold medal Sunday in men's singles tennis.

Murray recorded a surprisingly one-sided 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 victory over world No. 1 Roger Federer of Switzerland.

The bronze medal went to Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, who defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the third-place match.
