Haas, meanwhile, continued his recent surge with a 6-3, 7-5 upset of top-seeded Mardy Fish of the United States in Saturday's other semifinal.

The German improved to 6-1 in his last seven matches against Top 15 players, including a stunning upset of Roger Federer in the June final at Halle.

Haas, who also took the Hamburg event this year, will be seeking his 14th career crown.
