Nationals activate OF Jayson Werth

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The Washington Nationals activated outfielder Jayson Werth off the 60-day disabled list Thursday.

Werth had been sidelined since undergoing surgery on a broken wrist May 7.

Werth was hitting .276 with three home runs in 27 games prior to his injury.

Relief pitcher Henry Rodriguez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a lower back strain. Rodriguez (1-3) has nine saves and a 5.38 ERA.
