LONDON, July 31 (UPI) -- Ryan Bailey and Peter Varellas scored three times each Tuesday in leading the U.S. men's water polo team to a 10-8 Olympic decision over Romania.

The Americans recorded their second victory in as many games and are tied with Serbia at the top of Group B. Serbia was a 21-7 winner over Britain Tuesday.

The United States, which lost to Hungary in the gold medal game at the Beijing Olympics, will face Hungary in the fifth and final group game next Monday.

Hungary was surprised Tuesday by Montenegro 11-10 after the Americans had opened the Olympic tourney with a victory over Montenegro. Hungary is a surprising 0-2 in group play.

In Group A, Croatia is the only team left unbeaten after two games. Croatia edged Spain Tuesday 8-7 while Greece and Italy played to a 7-7 tie.

The United States will next meet Britain on Thursday before closing group action with what should be much tougher contests against Serbia and Hungary.

The top four from each of the two groups will advance to the quarterfinals, a spot the Americans have all but clinched.
