LONDON, July 30 (UPI) -- Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings rallied in the second set Monday to clinch a berth in the knockout round of the Olympic beach volleyball tournament.

May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings have not lost a set in any of their matches while marching to the gold medal in each of the last two Games.

That streak appeared in jeopardy Monday, when Kristyna Kolocova and Marketa Slukova of the Czech Republic took an 18-15 lead in the second set of a match that lasted past midnight.

The Americans then won six of the match's last seven points to close out a 21-14, 21-19 victory.

With one group match remaining, the U.S. team is assured of taking part in the round of 16, which begins Friday.

In the men's tournament, Americans Jacob Gibb and Sean Rosenthal suffered a two-sets loss to Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel of Poland. Gibb and Rosenthal likely need to defeat a Latvian team in the final group match to earn a spot in the knockout round.
