LONDON, July 29 (UPI) -- Needing a score of nine on the final arrow, Hyeonju Choi of South Korea came through Sunday to keep her nation unbeaten in Olympic women's team archery.

South Korea has won the gold medal all seven times the event has been contested at the Olympics and this time the victory came by a single point over China.

It was a rematch of the last two Olympic finals. South Korea defeated China by one point for the gold medal in Athens and by a comfortable nine points in Beijing.

Japan triumphed over Russia for the bronze Sunday in an event delayed by rain.

The Chinese archers finished the finals with 210 points, leaving the South Koreans needing 26 points with their final three arrows to win the gold medal and keep their Olympic winning streak alive.

A nine was recorded with the first one, but the second attempt produced only an eight. That left it up to Choi, who delivered the needed result and brought a roar from the South Korean fans who helped fill the specially built arena inside the Lord's Cricket Ground.

The United States, which finished second to South Korea in the qualifying round, lost to China in the quarterfinals.
