MLB: Chicago White Sox 5, Texas 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 29 (UPI) -- Phil Humber controlled the Texas Rangers for six innings Saturday, holding them to one run in the Chicago White Sox' 5-2 victory.

Humber (5-5) won for the third time in four starts, yielding four hits while walking two and striking out four.

The right-hander tossed 61 of his 100 pitches for strikes as the first-place White Sox clinched their three-game series and lengthened their lead over Detroit in the American League Central to 2 1/2 games.

Paul Konerko's two-run homer in the fourth inning staked the Chisox to a 2-0 lead and Adam Dunn added a two-run shot in the next frame.

Texas starter Matt Harrison (12-6) was tagged with the loss, surrendering five runs on seven hits over seven frames.

Mike Napoli pounded a two-run homer for the AL West-leading Rangers.
