OCEANSIDE, Calif., July 26 (UPI) -- The seeming bargain price for the beachfront home of late football star Junior Seau is a reflection of the California real estate market, a Realtor said.

Seau's home in Oceanside went on the market this week for $2.3 million, well below the $3.2 million Seau paid for it in 2005.

"The market was significantly different back then," listing agent John Beran told The San Diego U-T. Beran said the new asking price was based on an appraisal.

Seau committed suicide in the home May 2. The house drew a throng of San Diego Chargers fans, many of whom lit candles and dropped off flowers and other tributes by the front door.

The U-T said the two-story house, located in northern San Diego County, covers 2,238 square feet and has three bedrooms plus a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, located just a few steps away.
