CHICAGO, July 23 (UPI) -- Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer Monday, powering the Chicago White Sox to a 7-4 victory over Minnesota.

Konerko's blast in the first inning erased a 1-0 deficit for the White Sox, who got two-run homers in the third inning from Adam Dunn and Alex Rios to put the contest away.

Gavin Floyd (8-8) earned the victory despite surrendering six walks and six hits over six innings. The right-hander yielded three runs (two earned) and struck out one, and took advantage of four White Sox double plays behind him..

Addison Reed picked up his 16th save, as second-place Chicago moved to within one game of idle Detroit in the American League Central.

Minnesota's Francisco Liriano (3-10) was rocked for seven runs on seven hits before exiting after 2 2/3 innings.

Ryan Doumit socked a solo homer for the Twins.
