MLS: Los Angeles 3, Chivas USA 1

CARSON, Calif., July 22 (UPI) -- Landon Donovan scored twice Saturday, sending the Los Angeles Galaxy to a playoff position enhancing 3-1 victory over Chivas USA.

Robbie Keane added a goal and David Beckham supplied two assists for the Galaxy (9-10-3), who continued their recent surge with their sixth win in nine games.

The victory gave Los Angeles a seven-point cushion over Chivas in the competition for the fifth playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Paolo Cardozo scored in the 52nd minute for the Goats (6-8-5).
