CINCINNATI, July 22 (UPI) -- Johnny Cueto struck out nine over seven strong innings Sunday, staking the Cincinnati Reds to a 2-1 decision and sweep of Milwaukee.

Cueto (12-5) won in his third straight start, limiting the Brewers to one run on eight hits while walking one. The right-hander tossed 78 of his 117 pitches for strikes and lowered his ERA to 2.23, second-best in the National League.

Lyle Ondrusek hurled a scoreless eighth inning and Aroldis Chapman struck out a pair in the ninth for his 17th save as the National League Central-leading Reds won for the 11th time in 13 contests.

Wilson Valdez and Brandon Phillips each had two hits with an RBI in the victory.

Milwaukee starter Michael Fiers (3-4) absorbed the hard-luck loss, yielding one earned run on five hits over six frames.

Aramis Ramirez got the only RBI for the Brewers, who managed only four runs during the three-game series.
