BILOXI, Miss., July 21 (UPI) -- Former quarterback Brett Favre has the job of running the offense at a Mississippi high school in his sites, his agent confirmed.

Favre is in line to become the volunteer offensive coordinator at Oak Grove High School in his native Hancock County and will meet with school officials when he returns from vacation next week.

Agent Bus Cook told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun Herald the deal was as good as done. "He is taking a job out there," he said. "He is going out there, and it will give him something to do."

The Sun Herald said Favre has worked out in the past with the Head Coach Nevil Ross and the Oak Grove squad, which lost its coordinator a few weeks ago. "We have talked about it in the past and will talk again on Monday," said Ross. "He's still very enthusiastic on the field."

The practice field in Mississippi will be a big change for Favre and will also close the books on a storied NFL career that included three MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring.

Favre ended his playing career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. The team went 6-10 that season after a 2009 run that nearly led to a Super Bowl.

The Minnesota Star said Favre recently did an interview with NFL Network in which he said he had his doubts about playing in 2010 since he was aware of how hard it would be for the Vikings to duplicate the success of the previous season.

But Favre admitted he was talked into it by his teammates and a $3 million raise offered by the team. "That's not to say I didn't give it my all," Favre said. "It wasn't [meant] to be and I think I knew that."
