BRIVE-LA-GAILLARDE, France, July 20 (UPI) -- The International Cycling Union said Friday a second sample confirmed elite cyclist Frank Schleck of Luxembourg failed a doping test.

The organization initially informed Schleck Tuesday that a urine sample collected from him last weekend showed the presence of Xipamide, a diuretic. The results from his B sample produced the same outcome.

The union will now begin a disciplinary case against Schleck, who finished third in the Tour de France last year and was running 12th this year before his team, RadioShack-Nissan, pulled him from the competition after the first results came back positive for a banned substance.
