Tipsarevic is the only seeded player to reach the Swiss Open semis after Thomaz Bellucci eliminated seventh-seeded Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-3 earlier Friday.

Bellucci fired 10 aces and won 62 percent of the points on serve but the difference was that he won half of the points when Lopez served.

Paul-Henri Mathieu advanced over Ernests Gulbis 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. He turned the match by taking two-thirds of the points in the second set and then lost just six points in five service games in the third.

Grigor Dimitrov defeated Lukasz Kubot 6-3, 6-2 in Friday's other quarterfinal. He lost 10 points in nine games serving over the match.

Tipsarevic holds a 3-2 series edge over Mathieu. Bellucci won a tight three-set decision over Dimitrov in their only previous meeting.
