KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 19 (UPI) --
Jesus Montero had three hits and drove in four runs while Felix Hernandez
scattered eight hits in helping the Seattle Mariners to a 6-1 win over Kansas City.
Hernandez (8-5) needed just 89 pitches to get through eight innings. He was aided with two double plays. Kansas City's run came in the fifth when Chris Getz singled in Eric Hosmer.
Hernandez had just three strike outs but that pushed his major-league best total in the category to 143.
Montero opened the game's scoring with a home run leading off the second for his ninth home run of the year. The Mariners also got RBI from Michael Saunders and Brendan Ryan in the three-run rally.
Montero added an RBI single in the fifth, knocked in a run with a double in the seventh and added a ninth-inning sacrifice fly.
