CHICAGO, July 19 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano set off a four-run rally with a home run and Paul Maholm allowed five hits Thursday in the Chicago Cubs' 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins.
Maholm allowed the five hits over eight innings. He walked one and struck out four. He did surrender a ground-out RBI in the sixth.
The Marlins added a run in the ninth when Greg Dobbs singled off reliever Carlos Marmol, who still was credited with his 11th save.
It was the fifth win in the six-game home stand for Chicago, which has won 14 of its last 19.
Miami starter Mark Buehrle (9-9) had given up just two hits and faced the minimum 12 batters through four innings, but the Cubs pounded him for four hits and four runs in the fifth.
Soriano opened the inning with his 18th home run of the season. Jeff Baker added a single and Geovany Soto walked before Darwin Barney's single loaded the bases. Luis Valbuena hit a sacrifice fly. After an out, Reed Johnson singled in two runs to make the score 4-0.
