MANILA, Philippines, July 19 (UPI) -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman saw his father for the first time in 42 years in the Philippines and pointed him out to a crowd at a basketball game.

With 16 seconds left in the All-Star Basketball Challenge between NBA legends and Philippine Basketball Association greats, Rodman held up a microphone and spoke to the crowd at Mall of Asia Arena, PhilippineInquirer.net reported.

"I haven't seen my father in 42 years, but that's him sitting right there," Rodman said, pointing to a section where his father, Philander Rodman Jr., stood.

Philander Rodman, a Vietnam war veteran who has been lived in the Philippines since the 1970s, wore a red baseball cap emblazoned with the words, "Yes, Dennis Rodman is my son."

Dennis Rodman, 51, had said of his father at a press conference Tuesday, "I'm gonna be glad if he shows up in the game."

He also said: "I don't hate my father. Everyone here knows that my father lives in this country. I don't hate him."

Rodman scored 4 points in the NBA All-Stars' 112-93 victory over the PBA greats.
