Padres sale negotiations extended

NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- The two sides in the pending sale of the San Diego Padres said they would extend their negotiations through the end of the week.

The San Diego U-T said the exclusivity period between Padres' majority owner John Moores and The O'Malley Group was also extended.

San Diego businessman Ron Fowler also is in New York this week to represent the minority owners from the group that Jeff Morad formed in 2009 in an unsuccessful bid to acquire the team from Moores.
