MLB: Cincinnati 7, Arizona 1

CINCINNATI, July 18 (UPI) -- Jason Kubel hit two homers to account for three runs Wednesday and led the Arizona Diamondbacks past Cincinnati 7-1.

Kubel hit a two-run blast in the first and a solo shot in the fourth, both off Mat Latos (7-3). It was the first loss in 17 starts for Latos.

Ian Kennedy (7-8) scattered seven hits over eight innings and struck out seven without a walk to get the win. The only run he allowed came when Drew Stubbs singled in Ryan Hanigan in the second.

A double by Aaron Hill and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Miguel Montero accounted for two runs in the Arizona fifth. Paul Goldschmidt had an RBI double in the eighth and scored later in the inning on a passed ball.
