CHICAGO, July 17 (UPI) -- Carlos Lee blasted his first homer as a Marlin -- a fifth-inning grand slam -- powering Miami to a 9-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs Tuesday.
Lee, obtained from the Houston Astros in a July 4 trade, collected his first Marlins homer in his ninth game with the club, which handed Miami a 7-0 lead.
It was the 17th career grand slam for the veteran slugger, ninth-most in major league history.
Omar Infante added a two-run shot, finishing with three hits and three RBI, while Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo blast as the Marlins took the opener of a three-game set.
Anibal Sanchez (5-6) collected the victory, surrendering two runs (one earned) on nine hits over seven innings, striking out seven.
Cubs starter Travis Wood (4-4) was roughed up for eight runs on eight hits, lasting 4 2/3 frames.
Jeff Baker went 2-for-2 with a solo homer and an RBI single and Luis Valbuena drove in a pair of runs for Chicago.
