DENVER, July 17 (UPI) -- Wilin Rosario singled in the ninth inning and scored the game-winning run on Dexter Fowler's sacrifice fly Monday in Colorado's 5-4 win over Pittsburgh.
The Rockies held a 4-1 lead in the top of the ninth and appeared on their way to a victory, but Rex Brothers (5-2) surrounded a two-out, three-run homer to Pedro Alvarez, tying the score.
Rosario came right back in the bottom of the frame with a single off Jason Grilli (1-3), went to third on Jason Giambi's pinch-hit single and scored on Fowler's fly, salvaging the win for Colorado.
Eric Young stroked a two-run double to cap a four-run fifth for the Rockies, who claimed the first of a three-game set.
The second-place Pirates remained one game behind Cincinnati in the National League Central despite the loss.
