BASTAD, Sweden, July 17 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Julia Goerges lost just four games Tuesday in advancing out of the first round of the Sony Swedish Open tennis tournament.

Goerges topped Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-2, 6-2 despite landing just 45 percent of her first serves. Three of the four games she lost came on service breaks.

But she won nearly two-thirds of the points when Zahlavova Strycova served, piling up seven breaks in eight receiving games.

Zahlavova Strycova was coming off a loss Sunday to Sara Errani in the finals of the Italiacom Open. Errani, the No. 1 seed in Bastad, has her first-round match Wednesday.

Seeded players went 4-0 Tuesday in Sweden, dropping only one set in the process.

No. 3-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues defeated Laura Robson 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) despite losing her serve four times. Fifth-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova had six breaks in a 6-2, 6-2 win over Patricia Mayr-Achleitner. And No. 6-seed Klara Zakopalova advanced over Annika Beck 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match that had 16 breaks, eight by each player.

Other players moving into the second round after Tuesday's play were Shahar Peer, Silvia Soler-Espinosa, Mariana Duque-Marino, Kateryna Bondarenko, Arantxa Rus, Tsvetana Pironkova and Polona Hercog.
