NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- Raul Ibanez crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday and the New York Yankees defeated Toronto 6-3.

With the score tied 2-2, Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano reached base with one out against Aaron Loup (0-1). Jason Frasor relieved and hit Mark Teixeira with a pitch to the load the bases.

After Nick Swisher struck out, Ibanez unloaded a blast into the second deck in right field, giving the Yankees their sixth grand slam of the season.

The home run made a winner of David Robertson (1-3), who fired a scoreless eighth inning, while Rafael Soriano collected his 23rd save for the American League East-leading Yankees -- who triumphed for the seventh time in eight games.

Adam Lind homered and Edwin Encarnacion went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Blue Jays, who dropped the first of a three-game series in New York.
