LOS ANGELES, July 16 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin will undergo surgery to repair a knee injury suffered during a workout with the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team.

Griffin tore the medial meniscus of his left knee last week. He left the U.S. Olympic team for Los Angeles where the injury was diagnosed.

The Clippers said Griffin was to have and arthroscopic procedure performed Monday. While Griffin will miss the Olympics, team officials said he is expected to be ready when the Clippers start training camp in the fall.

Griffin averaged 20.7 points and 10.9 rebounds over 66 regular-season games last season. Both figures were team highs.
