Mark Trumbo went 3-for-5 and smacked one of four Los Angeles homers Sunday, powering the Angels to a 10-8 victory over the New York Yankees.
Erick Aybar and Albert Pujols socked back-to-back solo shots in the first inning and Maicer Izturis added a go-ahead, two-run clout in the sixth for Los Angeles, which avoided a three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium.
Jered Weaver (11-1) won his fifth straight start despite yielding five runs on 10 hits over seven innings. The Angels' ace right-hander surrendered one walk and struck out four.
Kevin Jepsen collected his first save by recording the final out of the game after New York had rallied for three runs in the ninth off Los Angeles reliever Chad Qualls.
Yankees starter Ivan Nova (10-4) was roughed up for six runs nine hits over six full frames.
Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira bashed two-run homers while Curtis Granderson and Eric Chavez added solo shots for American League East-leading New York.
