OAKLAND, Calif., July 11 (UPI) -- The Oakland Athletics Wednesday cut loose veteran reliever Brian Fuentes.
Fuentes, 36, had produced a 2-2 record with five saves, three blown saves and a 6.84 earned run average in 26 appearances in the first half of the season.
He had been designated for assignment July 3.
Fuentes has 204 saves and a 3.58 ERA in 644 career appearances with the Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins and the Athletics.
