BASTAD, Sweden, July 11 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed David Ferrer breezed into the quarterfinals of the Swedish Open Wednesday, posting a 6-4, 6-3 win over Simone Bolelli.

The Spaniard took just 74 minutes to eliminate his Italian opponent in the second round on the clay-courts at Bastad Tennis Stadium.

Ferrer won the Open in 2007 and was runner-up to Swede Robin Soderling last year. Soderling, a two-time winner, was unable to play this week.

In the quarterfinals, Ferrer will go against countryman and two-time Bastad winner Tommy Robredo, who dispatched Brazil's Joao Souza 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.

In other action involving seeds, Czech Jan Hajek upset No. 4 Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) and Estonian Jurgen Zopp beat No. 7 Filippo Volandri of Italy 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The first round wound up with sixth-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov handing Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva a 6-1, 6-4 setback.
