LANCASHIRE, England, July 10 (UPI) -- Pro golfer Mark O'Meara has withdrawn from this year's British Open because of an undisclosed injury.

O'Meara, 55, captured the British Open's claret jug in 1998, the same year he won the Masters. He has been playing on the Champions Tour since 2007.

His spot at this year's event at Royal Lytham & St. Annes won't be filled since the field is already over the normal 156 players.
