MIAMI, July 9 (UPI) -- Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade had surgery on his left knee Monday morning, assuring he will miss the Summer Olympics in London.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Wade said the scoping procedure was to repair the knee that hampered him most of the post-season.

Wade played in all 23 of the Heat's playoffs games and had the knee drained the day of Game 3 against Indiana in the second round.

He also had surgery on the knee in 2008.

The 30-year-old eight-time all-star, who averaged 22-plus points in helping Miami to an NBA title this past season, said last week he anticipates the rehabilitation process to take four to eight weeks.
