Owners of Philadelphia Eagles divorcing

PHILADELPHIA, July 5 (UPI) -- Jeffrey and Christina Lurie, announcing their divorce, said the split will not affect management of the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a letter to employees, the couple said Wednesday that they "remain close friends," The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"We share the same goals for the Eagles that we have always had," they said. "We want a world championship team, of course, and we want to carry on the dedicated community service that is so much a part of this company's heart and soul."

The couple has been married for 20 years and has a son and daughter. They met in the late 1980s when Christina was hired as an associate producer on one of her future husband's movies, "I Love You To Death."

Jeffrey Lurie bought the Eagles in 1994. In a 2010 interview, Christina Lurie said she played an active role in choosing the team logo, cheerleader costumes and similar issues but not in decisions about football.

The Luries produced the documentary "Inside Job" about the financial crisis. The movie won an Oscar last year for Best Documentary.
