Greipel takes Tour de France Stage 4

ROUEN, France, July 4 (UPI) -- Germany's Andre Greipel captured Stage 4 and Fabian Cancellara avoided a late wreck to retain the yellow jersey Wednesday in the Tour de France.

Greipel and his Lotto-Belisol teammates dominated down the stretch of the 133-mile stage ending in Rouen, France. The German rider drag-raced past New Zealander Greg Henderson at the end for the victory, logging a time of 5 hours, 18 minutes, 32 seconds.

The veteran sprinter collected his second career Tour de France stage win and his first in this year's race.

Cancellara, meanwhile, was able to evade a late crash involving South African Robbie Hunter and British rider Mark Cavendish. Hunter skidded and fell, taking Cavandish with him, but the Swiss rider survived.

Cancellara held onto the yellow jersey for the fifth straight day.
