DUXFORD, England, July 3 (UPI) -- One of two female drivers in Formula One suffered head and facial injuries in a crash during a test event in Britain Tuesday, officials said.

Marussia driver Maria de Villota, a 32-year-old native of Madrid, was driving the team's MR-01 car for the first time when she hit a stationary truck about 9:15 a.m. in Duxford Airfield in of Cambridgeshire, CNN reported.

Emergency medical charity Magpas said it had treated a woman in her 30s after a slow-speed Formula One crash at Duxford. Magpas said the woman was in stable condition before being taken by ambulance to Addenbrookes Hospital.

De Villota, the daughter of former Formula One driver Emilio de Villota, joined Britain-based Marussia in July. Before that, she had participated in the Spanish Formula Three, the Euroseries 3000 and the Daytona 24 Hours, CNN said.
