TORONTO, July 2 (UPI) -- Mike Moustakas drove in five runs with a grand slam and RBI double Monday, powering the Kansas City Royals to an 11-3 rout of Toronto.
Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a two-run shot and Yuniesky Betancourt added a pair of run-scoring singles for Royals, who banged out 14 hits in the opener of a four-game series.
Everett Teaford (1-1) earned the victory, allowing three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out two over seven innings.
Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero (8-3) was rocked for eight runs on 11 hits through six innings.
Jose Bautista blasted his MLB-best 27th homer and Colby Rasmus added a solo shot for Toronto.
