SAN JOSE, Calif., June 30 (UPI) -- San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith sustained "minor injuries" after multiple reports indicated Saturday he was stabbed at a San Jose, Calif., party.
49ers General Manager Trent Baalke released a statement saying Smith had been involved in "an incident" early Saturday.
"We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably," Baalke said. "The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."
The Sacramento Bee, citing an anonymous source, said Smith was among three victims found at large house party at a residence in an unincorporated area in the East San Jose foothills.
The Santa Clara County sheriff's office told the newspaper two people with gunshot wounds and another suffering from stab wounds (reportedly Smith) were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported Smith had been treated and released from a hospital.
"It was pretty chaotic when law enforcement arrived," Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza told the San Jose Mercury News. "There were at least 100 people, and there was a lot of alcohol involved."
