SAN FRANCISCO, June 30 (UPI) -- Mat Latos fired a complete-game two-hitter Saturday, carrying the Cincinnati Reds to a 2-1 decision over San Francisco.
Latos (7-2) set down 19 straight batters between the third and ninth innings, limiting the Giants to one run while walking none and striking out seven.
Combined with his previous start against Milwaukee, the right-hander has allowed only two runs on six hits over 18 innings for the National League Central-leading Reds.
Ryan Hannigan and Miguel Cairo provided RBI for Cincinnati, which improved to 2-1 in its four-game series at AT&T Park.
Reds first baseman Joey Votto was removed from the game in the fifth inning with inflammation in his left knee.
Barry Zito (6-6) took the hard-luck loss for San Francisco, yielding one run on five hits over six innings.
Gregor Blanco got the only RBI for the Giants, who entered the contest with a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
