MLS: Toronto 3, Montreal 0

MONTREAL, June 27 (UPI) -- Torsten Frings touched off a three-goal second-half explosion Wednesday that carried FC Toronto to a 3-0 decision over Montreal.

Frings scored on a free kick in the 52nd minute, starting Toronto on its way to only its second victory of the year.

Ryan Johnson added to the lead in the 72nd minute and he assisted on a goal by Danny Koevermans 6 minutes later.

Toronto 2-10-2 won on the road for the first time this season. Montreal (5-9-3) had captured two of its previous three matches.
