SEATTLE, June 26 (UPI) -- Tommy Milone and a pair of Oakland relievers combined for a seven-hit shutout Monday and the Athletics scratched out a 1-0 win over Seattle.

Milone (8-5) turned in his second straight strong start, following up on his complete-game victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday.

The Oakland left-hander scattered seven hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out five as the A's won for the seventh time in 10 games.

Grant Balfour tossed a scoreless eighth and Ryan Cook completed the whitewash with his fifth save for Oakland, which claimed the opener of a three-game set.

Seth Smith provided the game's only run with a second-inning solo homer.

Mariners rookie Erasmo Ramirez (0-2) absorbed the hard-luck loss, striking out 10 over eighth innings. The right-hander allowed just the one run on three hits while issuing a single walk.
