MLB: Texas 4, Colorado 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, June 22 (UPI) -- Roy Oswalt allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings in his return to the majors Friday, sending the Texas Rangers to their seventh straight win -- 4-1 over Colorado.

Oswalt, starting his 12th year in the majors, signed a free-agent contract with Texas in May and made four starts in the minors before being called up to take a spot in the Rangers' injury-depleted rotation.

He made his first major league start in almost nine months and wound up throwing 110 pitches while giving up nine hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Oswalt was given a standing ovation by the home crowd when he left the game in the seventh after Marco Scutaro had produced an RBI double.

It was the 160th win of his career, most of which has been spent with Houston. He went 9-10 in 23 starts last season with Philadelphia and twice went on the disabled list with back problems.

Adrian Beltre gave Texas the lead with a two-run homer in the first and Mike Napoli had a solo shot in the seventh.

Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 16th save while Christian Friedrich (4-4) took the loss. Friedrich allowed all four runs on seven hits in six innings.

Colorado lost for the 13th time in 15 games and was coming off a win Thursday against Philadelphia.
