CHICAGO, June 18 (UPI) -- Luis Valbuena's three-run blast led a parade of five homers Monday that powered the Chicago Cubs to a 12-3 interleague rout of the Chicago White Sox.
Starlin Castro and Bryan LaHair provided two-run clouts while Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto -- activated off the disabled list before the game -- chipped in with solo shots for the Cubs.
Castro finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored while Soriano added a run-scoring single as the Cubs claimed the opener of a three-game intracity rivalry series.
Matt Garza (3-5) earned the victory, surrendering three runs on five hits over six innings, issuing only one walk while striking out six.
White Sox starter Zach Stewart (1-2) was pounded for six runs on nine hits in a 5 2/3-inning effort.
Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski went deep for the American League Central-leading White Sox.
