HALLE, Germany, June 16 (UPI) -- Roger Federer knocked off Mikhail Youzhnv of Russia 6-1, 6-4 Saturday to advance to the finals of the Gerry Weber Open in Germany.
Switzerland's Federer will be seeking his sixth title at the grass-court Wimbledon tune-up when he faces Germany's Tommy Haas in Sunday's championship match.
Federer had little trouble with Youzhnv, whom he has beaten 13 times over his career. The world No. 3 served eight aces and converted four of his eight break-point opportunities.
"It was a good match for me," said Federer. "Mikhail started a bit slow, but I think I took advantage of it and after that I was able to get on a roll."
Haas earned his trip to the finals with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory over fellow German Phillipp Kohlschreiber, who had upset Rafael Nadal Friday. Haas, who has lost 10 of his last 11 matches against Federer, is seeking his first ATP win in three years.
