Raonic cruises to win in Germany

HALLE, Germany, June 13 (UPI) -- Fifth-seeded Milos Raonic dropped just two games Wednesday in claiming a second-round win at the Gerry Weber Open tennis tournament in Germany.

Raonic was on the court just 52 minutes in a 6-1, 6-1 pasting of Zhang Ze. Raonic had nine aces and one double fault -- the exact opposite for Zhang.

He lost eight points on serve overall after by winning 16-of-18 points on serve in the first set. Raonic also won 55 percent of the points off Zhang's serve.

Third-seeded Tomas Berdych stopped Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-2 in just more than an hour. Berdych won 75 percent of the points on serve and didn't face a break point.

Mikhail Youzhny posted a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over fourth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov. He lost his serve once on the day but used breaks in the first and third sets to advance.

He'll next go against Radek Stepanek, who topped Cedrik-Marcel Stebe 6-4, 6-4 in Wednesday's final match. Stepanek also didn't see a break point and won more than three-quarters of the points on serve.

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal, who won his seventh French Open title Monday, and world No. 3 Roger Federer are on Thursday's schedule, after receiving first-round byes. Nadal takes on Lukas Lacko, against whom Nadal is 3-0. Federer's opponent in the second round is Florian Mayer. Federer is also 3-0 versus Mayer, a record that includes a Gerry Weber Open win in 2005.
