Qualifiers advance in Austrian tennis

BAD GASTEIN, Austria, June 13 (UPI) -- Qualifiers Chichi Scholl and Dia Evtimova picked up victories Wednesday as first-round play wrapped up at the Gastein Ladies tennis tournament in Austria.

Scholl rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Zuzana Ondraskova with six breaks in seven receiving games. Scholl won 57 percent of the points on serve, but 62 percent when receiving.

She lost her serve twice in the first set, but offset that with three breaks in each set.

Evtimova got by wild-card entrant Barbara Haas 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 again having success off her opponent's serve. She had 11 breaks in 14 games and won 61 percent of the points when Haas served.

No. 3-seeded Ksenia Pervak finished off a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) win over Lara Arruabarrena-Veci and Yvonne Meusburger ousted fifth-seeded Petra Martic 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) in matches that had been on Tuesday's schedule.

Other results Wednesday saw sixth-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu defeat Kathrin Woerle 7-5, 1-6, 6-3; No. 8-seed Johanna Larsson stop Jana Cepelova 6-4, 7-6 (7-1); Jill Craybas advance over Nina Bratchikova 7-5, 6-3; and
