MLB: New York Yankees 3, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, June 13 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson put New York in front with a two-run homer in the sixth Wednesday and the Yankees went on to beat Atlanta 3-2 for their sixth straight win.

The Braves outhit New York 12-7 and wasted scoring chances throughout the contest, stranding 13 runners.

New York faced a 2-1 deficit in the sixth, but Derek Jeter opened the inning with a single off Tim Hudson (4-3) and Granderson followed with his 19th homer.

Hiroki Kuroda (6-6) was credited with the win, giving up two runs on nine hits and striking out eight in six innings.

Cody Eppley escaped a two-on, one-out eighth-inning jam when he got Martin Prado to ground into a double play. Rafael Soriano survived a one-out single in the ninth to earn his 11th save.

Brian McCann gave Atlanta a one-run lead in the fifth with a two-run homer.

The Yankees have won nine of their last 10 games and 16 of their last 20.
