CHICAGO, June 13 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bulls announced Wednesday they intend to move their practice facility from Deerfield, Ill., to downtown Chicago.

The NBA team said in a statement the new facility would be privately financed, the Chicago Tribune reported. The construction timetable had yet to be determined.

The team hopes the move will improve communication between its marketing operations, which operate out of the Bulls' home arena, and the basketball operations, which operate out of the Bulls' practice facility in Deerfield.

"Strategically, we are taking a more integrated approach to our business, and decreasing the physical distance between our two main facilities will naturally create more opportunities for collaboration among all departments," Michael Reinsdorf, the team's president and chief operating officer, said in the statement.
